Beneath the smile, there is an ache.
Like hot breath on a cool morning, it moves slowly, mysteriously. An endless well inside the belly. A swirling pit of pain and desire — too deep to enter.
Something in you knows you could get lost there. So you stay at the edge or turn your back to it altogether.
Your mind speaks — you can’t feel that. You can’t have that. You can’t want that. And yet, the ache remains.
The ache for more.
More depth.
More love.
More connection.
More rest.
More pleasure.
More aliveness. The ache to be felt with a presence that can finally hold you. To be known in all your fullness. To be witnessed in your deepest truth by someone who stays. The ache for more of whatever is quietly, relentlessly, calling you.
But somewhere along the way, we learned to fear our own longing.
To treat the ache as something to escape
rather than something sacred asking to be felt.
We were taught to avoid discomfort. That feeling deeply is altogether too much. And the deepest ache is the one that brings us face to face with the places we were never met.
The places we abandoned ourselves.
The places we denied our own longing.
To feel it is to open our hearts to the void — what we wanted but never claimed, the grief we were never allowed to feel, all that we learned to silence. And so we turn away from ourselves.
We distract.
We numb.
We look for something or someone to carry what we will not.
And find ourselves circling
the same emptiness,
the same loneliness,
the same disconnection.
Your ache is not your enemy. Your ache is not wrong. Your ache is not too much. The ache remains.
Not to torment you,
but to bring you closer to yourself.
To the wisdom within you.
A doorway
to remembering
what your soul already knows —
your yearning
leading you home. The tightness around your heart softens. Your chest opens and in that opening the very thing you long for begins to find you. Not through force. Not through chasing. Not through performing. But through allowing what is real to be felt.Come closer to your ache. Create space for it, little by little, breath by breath. When what is real is given space to rise your deeper desires begin to reveal themselves. They are not random. They are ancient.
They are sacred.
They are yours. They have been waiting for you. Your yearning is beautiful.
Your yearning is sacred.
Your yearning is the opening.
